Welcome to My Story About GooFin --

Goofin   by D.R.SAG

Macky Fin was an extra ordinary fish he liked the school of friends he swam with and the ponds cool waters that brushed against his silvery scales.

Macky Fin was considered the most athletic fish in the school with which he swam he was the fastest and highest jumper and could find the juiciest of worms to swallow.

Macky Fin was determined to find himself the most admirable fish bride so he could provide the world with others exactly like himself. For a fish as extraordinary as Macky Fin should have his children follow in his (footsteps) (swimsteps?) and be exactly like him.

So Macky Fin Married Isabella Speckle and had a batch of children all at once: the hatchlings came in different sizes, colors and abilities.

Soon the nursery where Macky and Isabella FinsÕ children were spawned was teaming with silvery little bodies just like their mom and dads all except for a puny orange one. The family of fishlings kept close watch on their little orange brother for with his orange color he just did not blend in he was a target for fishing things.

The fishlings named their little orange brother Goofin because he made them all laugh and have fun all day long.

Even though it was a chore keeping watch over him they liked finding juicy worms just his dinner size and hiding him when the fishing things came near.

They all grew as the summer passed and Goofin grew as well but not into the silvery fast swimming athletic creature that his mom and dad were, he grew pudgy, brighter orange and his tail blossomed into a glorious fluffily mane.

The summer grew very hot, the water in the pond evaporated until there was only a small puddle like patch left surrounded with crackled parched ground.

The larger fish had swum back to the ocean after the little ones were born so the little fishlings were trapped and parentless in the small shrinking pool puddle.

GoofinÕs brothers and sisters found it harder to hide him when the fishing things shadow appeared over them but they did their best and the best did well for Goofin was safe and sound in their care.

On day Arthur appeared with a bucket and a net he would catch some of the fish and bring them to his pond for safekeeping.

Arthur saw the little orange fish swimming in the middle of his protective swarm of fishling siblings and in one swift scoop of his net he gathered them all into it and than into the bucked filled with fresh cool spring water.

ŌThat will doĶ Arthur thought and off he went with his bucked of fishlings and his net swung over his shoulder. With one swift scoop GoofinsÕ family and Goofin were captured  and on theyÕre way to a safer place.

Arthur dumped the little fish into his back yard garden pond where even with the summerÕs heat Arthur kept it full of fresh water from the deep well. The little fish were happy in their new home and never learned about their birth pond drying out until there was nothing left but dust.

GoofinÕs brothers and sisters were saved, his bright color and stand out tail was what Arthur had noticed and was able to direct the net to scoop them up.

In the garden pond Goofin could swim alone and in the open water showing his color and fancy tail in all its glory. In ArthurÕs safe pond the Fin Family had a safe place to grow and have children of their very own.
